The Etches Collection – How it all began?

The Etches collection opened as a state-of-the-art museum in 2016. The collection is unique in that not only are the fossils of huge scientific importance but the collector is available either in-person or virtually to explain them and show how all the different species lived together in the warm Jurassic sea that was this part of Dorset 150 million years ago. There is so much to learn and appreciate for both the young and the not so young in this beautiful part of the world.

The Etches Collection Museum is located in Kimmeridge, Dorset on the World Heritage Coast and contains a nationally accredited and designated collection of over 2500 fossils from the Upper Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay Formation. The collection provides a major resource for education and research as well as being a major tourist attraction.
