Geologists Association PGA Special Issue: Jurassic Coast – Geoscience & Education featuring the specimens of The Etches Collection

It’s a historical moment for Dr Steve Etches MBE and The Etches Collection.  The latest Geologists Association publication (volume 130, June 2019) is a Jurassic Coast special featuring the latest scientific papers and we are proud to say that many of the fossil specimens featured were those discovered and collected by Steve Etches and residing here at our amazing museum.  Not only do these publications bring to the world of palaeontology details of the latest news and discoveries but also some international firsts for earth science too, a testament to Steve and his passion and dedication for all things Kimmeridgian.  One of the most humbling papers is by Leslie Noe, Marcela Gomez-Perez and Robert Nicholls entitled “Mary Anning, Alfred Nicholson Leeds & Steve Etches.  Comparing the three most important UK ‘amateur’ fossil collectors and the collections” which pays homage to three collectors who have inspired, pushed scientific boundaries and enriched the development of palaeontology as a science to audiences worldwide.
